Physiotherapy

If you are suffering with an injury, muscle or joint problems, back pain, discomfort or have a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, Louisa can offer a high standard of assessment, treatment and advice.

Louisa qualified as a physiotherapist in 1994 with a 1st class honours degree. She initially specialised in neurology and  worked at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. She is adult Bobath trained.

She now primarily works with musculoskeletal conditions, finding her neurological background a great template for analysing and treating altered movement patterns.

Conditions helped are:

  • Muscle and Joint Problems
  • Spinal/Neck/Shoulder Pain
  • Headaches
  • Muscle strains and sprains
  • Chronic overuse injuries
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Rehab after hip and knee replacements

She is trained in acupuncture within the scope of physiotherapy (MAACP), is Pilates Matwork 2 qualified (APPI) and is a qualified Swedish Massage Therapist. She is also a qualified Human Foundations Practitioner. This is a method of training the body using resistance to unwind habitual patterns of movement that tighten and restrict us. Based on the system “Functional Patterns”, training our body to move in normal movement patterns based on standing, walking, running and throwing, allows us to access a far deeper felt sense of connection between our body parts, particularly arms, torso and legs. When we move efficiently and stop exercising in ways that continue to habitually tighten our tissues (which often leads to pain) we can find a new core and postural strength which comes with an awareness of inner connection and personal integrity.

Louisa is also is a Certified Rosen Method Practitioner, Rosen Teacher and Supervisor. She teaches Living/Embodied Anatomy for the UK Rosen Method School and abroad.
